Autumn Newsletter - 2006

MOSSHEAD ROAD / BURNBRAE AVENUE

A suggestion has been put forward by the Roads Dept regarding the possibility of creating a mini roundabout at the junction of Mosshead Road and Burnbrae Avenue. The idea behind this is to alleviate speeding and parking problems in the area.

Whatever proposals are finally agreed on, there would need to be full discussion with local residents.

While this is only a suggestion, we feel that residents should be aware that discussions on this matter are ongoing.

We are keeping in contact with councillor Julia Southcott on this issue, and will keep you informed of any developments.

CEILIDH

The association has decided to cancel the ceilidh proposed for November 2006 owing to lack of interest. Burnbrae Residents’ Association and the PALS group (Playpark and Loch Management Scheme) may get together and hold a joint ceilidh in the spring of 2007

SENIOR CITIZENS’ OUTING

The outing this year will take place on Monday 4th December. The price of £15 for residents (and £20 for non resident friends) includes a ticket for the pantomime, Aladdin at the King’s Theatre, a fish tea at Hany Ramsden’s followed by a tour of the city’s Christmas lights, plus the coach trip there and back. The bus will leave from and return to The Burnbrae on Milngavie Road.

KILMARDINNY PALS

The Kilmardinny PALS (Playpark and Loch Scheme) are making excellent progress towards their aim on improving the Loch and Playpark area. The group are now a limited company and have been awarded charitable status. They have received their first donation from Bearsden North Community Council and have further funds promised from Bearsden East Community Council. Various Playpark manufacturers have prepared plans and an independent Landscape Architect has been employed, via East Dunbartonshire Council, to produce designs for both the loch area and the playpark. Discussions are now ongoing towards future fundraising events and finding ways of involving the local community to show the plans to them and gauge feedback, these will take place early in 2007. An information leaflet is being prepared and will soon be distributed to all householders giving dates of events and consultation meetings.
