BURNBRAE RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Minutes of meeting held on Wednesday 8th August in Milngavie Bowling Club.

MINUTES OF LAST COMMITTEE MEETING

MATTERS ARISING

Local councillor contacted re property at 21 Hawthorn Avenue which is inhabited by a reclusive gentleman who is allowing the property to deteriorate badly. Check with Victor as to where to write.

The local Councillor and Mike Newell from roads department will be invited to next meeting to discuss road problems in area. Thanks were recorded to Scott Kerr for photocopying the summer newsletter.

CORRESPONDENCE

  1. Only one questionnaire was returned with suggestion suggestion that Residents’ Association should concentrate on litter, roads, planning, and traffic and phone masts. Flora has replied to correspondent.

  2. Council for Voluntary Services newsletter received and available to committee members for information.

TREASURER’S REPORT

  1. Cash in bank £3697.07

  2. Insurance paid – same cost as last year.

  3. Bill for membership cards awaited.

  4. Subscription collection packs produced – membership fee £5 per household.

NEWSLETTER UPDATE / RESPONSES

Only two responses to newsletter questionnaire. Flora and John have 1 reply each.

CEILIDH

Ceilidh has been arranged for Saturday 27th October 2007 in Milngavie Bowling Club. Band booked at cost of £400. Name of band to be confirmed and they have agreed to play from 8 – midnight with break for fish/chicken suppers and raffle. A request for the bar to remain open until midnight was proposed. Jim Robertson to action.

Jim to print 100 tickets. Ticket to include band name, choice of fish or chicken supper, charity raffle in aid of PALS. Ticket price - £12

Rosemary Manson agreed to check out quality and prices at local chip shops.

It was suggested PALS co–ordinate collection of raffle prizes, as it would be to their benefit. Flora to contact Colin Taylor regarding this.

PANTOMIME

Rosemary has 30 tickets for  pantomime “Sleeping Beauty”at matinee performance in Kings Theatre on Monday 3rd December. Due to the earlier start to the matinee i.e.12 noon the coach will have to leave Milngavie Road at 11am. The earlier start may cause problems for Senior Citizens and it is critical that participant numbers are confirmed by end of Sept. Cost £15 for member, £20 for non–member.

A.O.C.B.

  1. Discussion on the Welcome Pack ensued and Flora advised that it required to be updated and requested a volunteer for this, Scott offered to look at the pack and give feedback at the next meeting.

  2. Mark Keddie telephoned EDC regarding the trees in Mosshead Road, which are causing problems when high-sided vehicles pass through; EDC stated that they would be pruned. Rosemary commented trees at back of Burnbrae Hotel also need pruned.

  3. Committee expressed satisfaction at content of the summer newsletter.
