Minutes of meeting held on Tuesday 26th September in Milngavie Bowling Club

 

ATTENDANCE

Margaret and Jim Robertson, Flora Frame, Marion Wilson, Keith Small [Mosshead Residents’ Association and Bearsden North Community Council], Ian McGregor, Victor Budas, John Haddow, Rosemary Manson, Mark Keddie, Colin Taylor and Iain Wardrope.

 

NOT IN ATTENDANCE

Ian Smith, Martin Malloy.

 

1   APOLOGIES

2   MINUTES OF LAST COMMITTEE MEETING

4   CORRESPONDENCE

     Letter from Reporter. Permission to build house in lane at Joe’s shop refused.

     Letter from Planning Dept. acknowledging concerns re – size of development from Reid Ave. to past Homebase causing increase in traffic with detrimental affect on road safety.

     The police are holding a community safety seminar in Tom Johnson House on 5th December. Flora and Victor will attend.

 

5   TREASURER’S  REPORT

     £4635 in bank  [£1000 belongs to PALS]

 

6   AFFILIATION TO BEARSDEN AND MILNGAVIE FORUM

     We are still being invited to meetings. They state they are non- political. They are still pursuing the issue of the bins as their first project. Our committee feels we should continue to observe but remain non- affiliated.

 

7   SUBSCRIPTIONS

     Progressing.

 

8   SOCIAL EVENTS

     Ceilidh – Ian has booked band for 17th November. As several committee members are unavailable on this date a check of the numbers attending needs to be done to ensure the event is financially viable. Possibility of amalgamating this with PALS fundraising at later date.

    

     Pantomime – Response to date is poor. Suggest non-residents could come at cost of £20.

 

9   NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH

     Break-ins reported in Beech Ave. and Mosshead Rd.

     Police have caught several people involved in problems at Ski Club and they will be charged. It is admitted that the police response time was slow. It is proposed that a Strathclyde Association be formed.

 

10        BEARSDEN COMMUNITY COUNCIL LINKS

     Police attended. They are short-handed.

     Bearsden North has £7000in bank. Keith proposed that £1000 be given to schools to encourage sports and eco-projects. A limit of £300 / school was agreed. Victor proposed a trophy for Bearsden Academy for involvement in Loch scheme.

 

11 PALS

     Have charitable status.Memorandum and Articles of Association are drawn up and require signatures.Then bank account can be set up. Helen Porter is chairperson. David Dishon is company secretary and treasurer. Colin Taylor is committee secretary and director. There are 8 directors. Keith Scrymgeor and Gordon Strain came to meeting and can give advice about sources of funding. A landscape architect will draw up plans and Keith will pay him. The WIAT scheme will pay for cutting bushes, bins and benches but not duck feeding area.

     Keith Small is keen to be involved with PALS.

 

12        A.O.C.B.

     Water leak at Oak Ave. Fixed promptly by Scottish Water. Concerns over the state of the roads were unable to be discussed as Jo Swinson did not attend meeting. Parking and speeding cars in Mosshead Rd. continue to give concern. Although the council failed to leaflet everyone over the changes to the refuse collections it was felt that in most cases it was working out satisfactorily.
