2   MINUTES OF LAST MEETING.

     Seconded – Flora Frame

3   MATTERS ARISING

Amanda Stewart was re-elected chairperson of Bearsden & Milngavie Forum at their AGM and as Amanda is standing for election as a Conservative Councillor at the local election in may it was decided, given there is still a 'political aspect' to the Forum, we should not affiliate.

4   CORRESPONDENCE

Two newsletters were delivered about the Bearsden Academy development and the Public Hearing. Victor’s sons were paid to deliver them as time was short. However the general view was that committee members should deliver newsletters unless timing precluded this. Use of funds for this purpose would only be agreed on a needs basis, as it is not efficient use of our funds. We require more committee members to enable the committee to function and Flora would raise this at the A.G.M.

Mike Newel, EDC Roads Planning Manager has been invited and has agreed to come to the A.G.M. to discuss the roads service. Parking at Joe’s and speeding on Mosshead Road are continuing to cause problems and we seek his views and consultation with the committee on adopting a solution.

5   TREASURER’S REPORT

Subscriptions received from all collectors.

Of 525 houses - 411 paid subs. (78%)

25 subs. from last year were paid this year (not included in the above)

1 further sub. received after end of financial year.

All garden equipment has been serviced. Part of cost will be included in the 2007 – 2008 accounts

The books have been audited and the balance sheet shows a surplus of £327.

The bank balance is £4303.06 at the end of the financial year.

The current balance is £4247.91

The funds can support the purchase of new equipment.

A professional grade pressure washer would cost ~ £400.

A lawn scarifier is another suggested purchase.

6   BEARSDEN ACADEMY UPDATE

Flora Frame and Victor Budas attended the Public Hearing in Tom Johnston House. With the agreement of four local organisations, Mosshead, Baljaffray, and Burnbrae Residents Associations and Bearsden North Community Council our prepared list of objections would be presented to the Planning Board by Keith Small, Chair of Bearsden North Community Council, and Amanda Stewart as we were only allowed 15 minutes to present our objections. The manner of questioning of Keith Small, by Councillors of the Planning Board was hostile, aggressive and interrogative and lasted for 45 minutes. Following questioning a motion was presented immediately followed by a counter motion so no debate was allowed and the application was approved unaltered.

7   PALS

Mad March ball arranged in Bearsden Burgh Halls on Saturday 31st March. Ceilidh band, buffet, raffle etc. £15 / ticket.

Open evening held on 2 Wednesdays. Between 70 – 100 people came in of whom most were in favour. There were some concerns about the poor drainage round the loch.

There is an open evening on Wed. 23rd May with the Mugdock ranger where there will be a litter sweep, building of bird boxes and flower planting.
